What Does Radio Navigation cover?
Radio Navigation, known as RNav covers navigation using radio aids and includes: Radio Propagation Theory, how radio waves are modulated, how antennae work, doppler and its use in radar, VDF, ADF, VOR, ILS & MLS, Radar principles and covers ground radar and airborne weather radar as well as SSR, DME, Area Navigation, the EFIS systems found on modern aircraft, Global Navigation Systems i.e. GPS and Performance Based Navigation.
The subject goes in to the theory and operation of different types of navigational aids, using real world examples.
It is a large subject and involves a small amount of basic maths.
